Our Founder
Rotary was founded by Paul P. Harris in Chicago in 1905 with a vision of bringing together professionals committed to friendship, integrity, and service. Today, Rotary has grown into a global network of over 1.2 million members creating lasting change in communities around the world.
Rotary’s commitment to leadership and service is reflected in the legacy of Jonathan B. Majiyagbe, the first African to serve as President of Rotary International (2003–2004). His leadership continues to inspire Rotarians across Africa and the world.
